I was in the 4th grade when my teacher, Mrs. Holdcraft, began reading to us from Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein. It was my introduction to poetry. I would sit and read this book over and over.
Oh, if you're a bird, be and early bird
And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.
If you're a bird, be an early bird --
But if you're a worm, sleep late.
