Ugh... it's that time of year.

I am not a fan of Valentine's Day.  It's become a day fueled by marketing meant to take all yo moolah.  I prefer to just cook stuff heart shaped and make cheesy cards from construction paper.

I don't like chocolates and if my husband buys me one more ring I might actually consider shooting him.  I mean don't get me wrong, I like jewelry, but a person only has 10 fingers.

And who the hell decided to put velvet on cards?  Those cheesy ribbon-y, covered in velvet Valentine's cards.  No one likes those.  My husband stopped buying me these cards a few years ago when I told him that the thought was nice, but the card made me puke a little in my mouth.  I always ask if he has actually read the card he buys for me.  He says he does, but I have my doubts.

Every year I avoid one whole half of Wal-Mart between mid-December and February 15th.  That's when they completely cover everything in pinks and reds and seemingly force you to buy huge bags of conversation hearts and Disney character/school appropriate cards.  I'm over it.  How 'bout you?

  1. I definitely agree with you on this....NO cheesey cards...say it from the heart and be done with it!

  2. All I have to say is...

You are aware of the curse.

We dare not speak its name.

  3. Not a fan of the holiday, though I do like a little good chocolate.

  4. My husband doesn't ever get me a gift, but he does get me a card every year. He reads the cards and chooses wisely. And he always puts a sweet note inside. It's like the only romantic thing he does so I want my card every year.
