Federal Grove Maple Syrup Giveaway!

I have been wanting to try a locally grown/harvested maple syrup (made in my hometown!), but have never remembered to actually go and buy any.  Recently the farm supply store in my current town began selling it!  I was so excited!

Federal Grove in Auburn, KY was established in 1805 as a 1,700 acre plantation.  Later the property became a  general store, blacksmith shop, and one-room school house.  In 1871, the property was purchased by James Hall and remained in the Hall family until 1991.  Now Federal Grove is a bed & breakfast and restaurant.  Not to mention, maker of THE BEST MAPLE SYRUP I've ever tasted.

I'm not just saying it's the best I've ever tasted because we, the syrup and I, are from the same place.  I'm saying it because it's the honest truth.  So rich, so sweet, so very, very, good!

We paid $8.50 for our 8oz bottle.  A little pricey, but it's so rich that you only need to use a 1/4 of what you would normally use for your pancakes or waffles.  And just look at that bottle!  Isn't it wonderful?

If you are nearby or just cruising through southern Kentucky, stop by and grab a bottle!  You can also purchase a bottle through the Taste of Kentucky website here.

  3. I love the fresh vegtables my mom cooks in the summer. I am spoiled to home canned greenbeans any other time. Will not eat any store bought greenbeans. I am also fortunate to have a friend, Tommy who graciously gives me homemade sausage when they butcher one of their own pigs! Judy Ingram

  4. sorry this may sound "cheesy" to some people but my favorite homegrown from here in Kentucky has to be my daughter, who is an awesome mother to my grandson, Neil and granddaughter Kaia and I know she will also be an awesome mom to my granddaughter that will be joining the family in mid-July

  6. I love my locally grown "HOLLY'S ORCHIDS." They are known for their carefully grown orchids, bromeliads, African violets, begonias, hanging baskets and more. I also love what your mother commented, you are the best homegrown thing! Not cheesy at all!

  9. I really love great maple syrup!

I grew up on Long Island and my favorite local product from there was the local apple cider mill. It was open only in the fall and had the best apple cider I have had in my entire life.

Thanks for bringing up this memory for me.

    Blessings,
    Jan
