Summer... poof! Gone.

I'm still trying to figure out where this summer went.  I feel like it has barely begun and now it's already over.  Schools are staring back all over the place.  Mine go back next week.  I'm still hoping to get through to the principal of the kids school so I can negotiate a change in Kaia's teacher.  I'm just not comfortable with the current choice of teacher.  I want to get the change made before school starts.  I should have put in a request at the end of last year, but I did not.

It's hard to believe that the kids will be in the 3rd and 4th grades this year.  They are growing up so quickly.  I just want to tell them to slow down!  Stop growing up so fast.  I want to make the most of everything, but it's just going so fast.  I can't keep up.  In just 2 more years, Neil will be in middle school.  Middle school!

School supplies are ready.  Now that reminds me.  Why won't schools allow "Trapper Keeper" type things anymore?  It specifically says on the school supply list, "No Trapper Keepers".  Why?  I loved mine when I was a kid.  You could put all of your stuff in it.  In one place.  Easy storage and retrieval.  Now they aren't allowed to use them.  Is it because you think I may have a bomb in it?  I mean really.  Now it's a binder, plus a spiral notebook, plus a pencil box, plus this, plus that.... All that crap to lose...err I mean keep up with.   Now if they had a "Trapper Keeper" it would all be in one place!

And when did it become a requirement to provide the school with paper towels, tissues, antibacterial hand solutions, and all that jazz?  I obviously don't want the teachers to have to pay for these items either.  What happened to good old soap?  Brown, scratchy paper towels to dry your hands with?   Wiping down desks with bleach?  Wiping your nose with your sleeve? Not really on the last one... Has school funding sunk so low that the state can not provide these things for the schools?  I'll answer my own question there with... probably.
I don't remember myself or my classmates being nearly as sick as the kids are today.  Back to the basics people!  Back to the basics.

P.S.  I think this also means that it's about time to change the background on the blog....

  1. Summer has flown by. It seems like after the 4th, it just flies by and is over! Kat's birthday is thursday, can you believe that?

Oh well, it will be no time until it's fall, and the temps are cooler, the leaves are crunchier... and then it will be Halloween! Yay!
