Random Thoughts

"There is no reason to assume that the universe has the slightest interest in intelligence—or even in life. Both may be random accidental by-products of its operations like the beautiful patterns on a butterfly's wings. The insect would fly just as well without them."
— Arthur C. Clarke, The Lost Worlds of 2001, 1972

  1. I think the universe itself is made of Divine design. Everything about life seems to have a reason and a purpose whether we are aware of it or not. Bodies of every living creature are made up in such interesting, complicated, and amazing designs that it just can't be accidental.

  2. I don't think this is a sad thought at all! I believe Mr. Clarke was trying to say that the insect could fly just as well without the beautiful patterns on their wings, not without their wings at all!
