Picture(s) of the Day - 5/27/08

We drained the pool yesterday and cleaned it out well. We ran out of time filling it back up though so this morning I put the hose back in the pool to finish filling it up. Then in my classic fashion, I forgot about it and almost overflowed the pool. See below.

Ruby smelling the clover.

What I call "driveway" flowers because, duh, they are growing in my driveway.

The state is patching parts of our road. So since about 6AM this morning, these dump trucks have been cruising by the house. Coming in, they are loaded with asphalt and it is making everything stink. Yeah, for state work on roads.

I know....I know....

where the hell have I been? Well, at the school pretty much everyday for about the past two weeks. Those second graders have run me completely ragged. I started to sit down and blog yesterday, but ended up watching a movie with the fam instead. I was going to complain about the ridiculous.....

GAS PRICES!!!!
I mean, seriously? Seriously?! Are these people insane or what?! Gas prices went up 25 cents overnight Tuesday night from $3.69 to 3.89. And then, while in Bowling Green on Wednesday, it went up another $0.10 to $3.99 or in most places, $3.96. Who can afford this? Why, the rich people, of course. The people who are making all the damn money from the poor people who have no choice but to buy the shit for the cost of their first born. Honestly, I'm tired of hearing about it on the nightly news...EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN' NIGHT! Stop it Charles Gibson, just stop! Report on something uplifting for once. Like that person of the week who, with her one wish from the "Make A Wish" foundation, raised money for AIDS orphans in Africa. That was an uplifting story. Do that one again. Stop with the redundant "gas prices have hit a record high again". I don't need the news to tell me that. I can see that with own two eyes. Thank you very much.

And what about that militant government in Myanmar? Those guys are greedy and insane too! Not accepting help for their people. Keeping all the good stuff for themselves. Picking and choosing who can help. When are those people going to realize that help is help no matter where it comes from. People are starving, going thirsty, and dying right before them and they are doing little if anything to prevent it! Kind of reminds me of another government....oh yeah OURS!!!! Because that is exactly what is going to happen to us if they don't get a handle on the gas problem right now!!!!

On the plus side though, last day of school is tomorrow.

Movie: Cloverfield

Ok, I know...I should have seen this movie a long time ago, but I'd been putting it off. And now I know why....
This movie was horrible!! I kept waiting for the real movie to start and it never did. The whole hand held camera angle of the entire movie just made it seem very unprofessional. I guess that was the point, but I didn't really like it. There were so many questions that no one ever answered. And there was never a good enough shot of the "monster" to even get a good idea of what it really was. A lot of people liked this film, but I personally thought it stunk. I'm still trying to figure out where the name even came from. Another of those unexplained things about this movie.

Movie: 27 Dresses

We watched this movie a couple of weeks ago and I'm just now remembering to write about it.

I wouldn't say I "loved" it, but it was a pretty good movie. A little predictable at times, it was still enjoyable. I laughed out loud several times, but mostly there were chuckles. I couldn't help but sing Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets" for about two days after I'd seen the movie though. It's a chick flick, but the guys might not mind since Katherine Hiegl is in it.

....I'm not dead.

Um...so yeah. It's been a minute since I last blogged about anything blog worthy I guess. I'm really excited that my Dad is now living with us! He got here last weekend. He complained that is was too cold at 49 degrees. :) Of course, he's used to the Florida weather so I can't blame him. I'm glad he's here though so the kids can get a chance to know him and I get to spend some time with him myself. I'm hoping that this will give my (half) brothers a bigger reason to come up to Kentucky to visit. I think they are worried that he won't be back, but he misses the beach and warm air. He says it just costs too much to live there now.

The kids have started their Little League games now. The first game was rained out, but the second game got played and they won! Final score was 2-10. We were the home team for that game. They have another game tonight at 8PM, but it rained off and on yesterday and all night last night. The weatherman said that it would probably start raining again tonight too so I think the field will be too wet to play, but who knows really. The game that was missed is supposed to be made up on Saturday so I hope it will dry out enough to do one of them at least.

Tomorrow is the Family Field Trip with the Cub Scouts to Mammoth Cave. We meet at 11AM and then it takes about 45 mins to get there. Opal isn't really excited or anything because he just took a school field trip there a few weeks ago. I'm hoping that it will be a different tour. Ruby hasn't ever been so I think it should be fun. Of course, I'll take a bazillion photos for everyone to see. I'm sure I'll make one of them or some of them my picture(s) of the day for tomorrow.

I'm ready for summer break from school to be here. Although it feels like they just started, I'm tired of getting up at 5:15AM every morning. Frankly, I'd like to hang around my house in my pj's all day to be honest.

I would vent about the price of gas again, but I'm sure everyone is venting on that issue. So I'll just leave it at that. .......and may they force be with you....and all that jazz.....

Ruby with her hardware at the dentist's office. This is her first, and hopefully last, cavity filling.

Ruby third "lost" tooth finally fell out...last night while she was asleep. We found it laying next to her pillow this morning.

My dad, who has been living in Florida for the past 7 years, a little after he arrived this morning. I'm so glad he's here!

Stopped to fill up on the way home and saw this awesome car. They were about to pull off when we got there so this is the best photo I could get.
